Workforce Skills Qualification

Anyone can learn employability and industry-related skills and get certified under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) System. These qualifications are beneficial to both individuals and employers.

The WSQ qualification helps individuals and staff to upgrade their skills and assess them against established work and industry standards. Those who possess WSQ qualifications have a set of credentials that are recognised throughout Singapore.

Hemsdale conducts WSQ courses in two frameworks - Food & Beverage and Tourism. The structure for each level is shown below.

Currently, WSQ courses are funded by WDA under the Skills Development Funding scheme. The SDF scheme applies to company-sponsored participants only.

The funding is as follows:

Age below 40 Age 40 and above
80% of course fees subject to $7 per trainee-hour 90% of course fees subject to $11 per trainee-hour

Food Hygiene Course

This course is a must for all people involved in food preparation. This qualification replaces the existing Basic Food Hygiene Course by NEA.

Interact with Guest

This course is ideal for individuals and staff involved in face-to-face interaction with clients and guests. Especially those who are in the F & B and Hospitality/Tourism industry.

Service Guest Room

This course is ideal for individuals and staff involved in the housekeeping department of hotels, inns and service apartments, especially chambermaids, housekeeping attendants and supervisors.

Work Safely

This course is ideal for individuals and staff involved in housekeeping and areas where they are required to handle potentially hazardous environments.
