Q: What are the acceptable qualifications for international students?
A: Hemsdale Management School offers many programs. Each program has its own admission requirements. In general, international students should have completed at least the middle school and attained 16 years of age. English is the medium of instruction at our School and students have to be proficient in that language.

Q: As an international student, must I take IELTS?
A: In addition to meeting the admission requirements, all international students whose first language is not English are required to show proof of English Proficiency by achieving the following English test results if they wish to enroll into an university:

IELTS (6 overall with not less than 5.5 in any band)
TOEFL (550 overall)
Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English.

Hemsdale Management School conducts IELTS to assist students to meet the required level.


Q: How should I go about applying for a student pass?
A: Hemsdale Management School would assist international students in their application for student passes which are processed, approved and issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). This student pass is valid for the whole duration of the course of study. Forms for the application of student pass can be downloaded from Hemsdale's download site. Q: Are Student's Pass holders allowed to work?
A: No. Student's Pass holders are strictly not allowed to engage in any form of employment, whether paid or unpaid, or in any business, profession or occupation in Singapore during the validity of their Student's Passes unless they have the consent in writing of the Controller of Immigration. Violators will be prosecuted by law.

Q: As a foreign student studying in Singapore, what is the cost of living I can expect to pay?
A: An international student has to budget for living expenses over and above the fees payable to the Hemsdale Management School, books and stationery. These include accommodation, transportation, food, clothing, recreational activities and miscellaneous expenses.

Q: Will the School assist us in arranging for accommodation?
A: Yes, Hemsdale Management School is able to arrange for your accommodation in Singapore. The rental for a single room would be about S$150 - S$300 per month depending on the residential area and proximity to Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) station.

Q: How would I move around in Singapore?
A: There's no need to feel handicapped if you're not able to afford a car. Singapore's public transportation system is comparatively cheaper than most other countries. Buses, taxis and the metro or MRT trains are reliable alternatives to cars and ply a network of well-connected routes all over the island. The Translink farecard, a stored value card, can be used on both the MRT and buses. Fares range from S$0.80 to S$1.80.

Q: Where would I have my meals?
A: There are many food courts in Singapore selling various types of foods. These include rice, noodle, snacks and desserts. Being a cosmopolitan country, you would be able to find food originated from China, India, Malaysia and Europe. A simple meal including drinks in one of the food courts would be between $3.00 and $5.00.

Q: Can I pay my fee in installments?
A: You have to pay your fee in full. For example, if the fee for a 6-month program is S$1,200, you would have to pay that amount before the commencement of the program.

Q: I wish to change schools or stop in the middle of my course. Is there any refund of course fees?
A: Students who wish to withdraw from the course have to submit their requests in writing to the School. The School does not accept any request for withdrawal through telephone. For more information on course withdrawal, please read our Policy on Withdrawal and Transfer.

Q: How do I enroll?
A: We have kept our enrolment procedure simple. You have to fill up one application form and forward that form together with your relevant certificates to us for processing. The processed documents will be forwarded to Immigration & Checkpoints Authority for the issue of student pass. Application forms can be downloaded from our website at here.
